Sex & Consent Online Modules for Australian Universities
Sex & Consent engages learners with a relatable, compelling and evidence-based elearning experience that equips them with the knowledge and tools to navigate sexual consent and prevent gender-based violence in their everyday lives.
Developed in collaboration with experts, students, and communities disproportionately affected by gender-based violence, the elearn modules are inclusive, accessible, and customisable to meet to the unique needs of higher education institutions. With a focus on ongoing learning, our elearn modules not only meet but exceed the National Code’s requirements and learning outcomes, making us a trusted choice for Higher Education Providers seeking to build safer, more informed learning communities.

Gender-based violence literacy
Module one provides learners with a comprehensive definition of gender-based violence (GBV), including common examples of GBV and an exploration of its prevalence amongst young people in Australia. Learners will become familiar with some of the social and cultural factors contributing to the high rates of GBV experienced by young people, as well as how to be an active bystander if they witness gender-based violence.

Understanding consent and skill-building for healthy relationships
Module two focuses on consent and equips learners with the skills to develop healthy, safe and respectful relationships. Learners are introduced to the communicative approach to consent, based on communication, responsibility and pleasure, and hear directly from young Australians sharing how they navigate consent in their own sexual relationships.

Accessing support and reporting gender-based violence
Module three equips learners with the skills to safely respond to disclosures of gender-based violence in a compassionate and trauma-informed way. Learners become familiar with internal and external support services, resources and reporting avenues available to a person who has experienced gender based violence.

Each module features video content that profiles the stories of young people navigating relationships, sexuality and consent.
Interactive Learner Experiences
Modules feature interactive learner experiences throughout including knowledge-checks, case studies and simulations that allow learners to engage and observe before applying their knowledge and skills.

The learning outcomes of the Sex & Consent elearn modules are in alignment with the UNESCO International Technical Guidance for Sexuality Education which presents the evidence base for delivering comprehensive sexuality education within a framework of human rights and gender equality.
The course has been developed in alignment with the Our Watch Best Practice Principles for Online Learning and the Universities Australia 2023 Primary Prevention of Sexual Harm in the University Sector Good Practice Guide.
Each module has been developed in response to the findings of current qualitative and quantitative research with a diverse representation of young people, including the National Student Safety Survey (2021), and the Australian Human Rights Commission Change The Course report.
